The British and Irish Association of Fastener Distributors has appointed Gary Henderson, managing director of Grampian Fasteners, as its new chair. Bringing over two decades of industry experience, Henderson takes the helm during a period of growing trade and regulatory complexity for the sector.
Representing more than 100 companies across the UK and Ireland, the association supports fastener manufacturers, importers, and distributors supplying industries from construction and engineering to transport and energy. Under Henderson’s leadership, the organisation aims to strengthen collaboration, improve supply chain resilience, and guide members throughupcoming trade reforms.
Henderson cited international trade challenges as top priorities, particularly the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the UK’s version expected by 2027. He also addressed the impact of anti-dumping duties and ongoing tariffs on imported fasteners, underscoring the need for collective action within the industry.
Having led Grampian Fasteners for over 12 years as an active member of the association, Henderson brings first-hand experience of the value of cooperation in navigating industry pressures. His appointment reaffirms the association’s role as a voice for the fastener distribution sector and a key advocate for sustainable, fair trade practices.
The new leadership signals continued focus on building strategic responses to evolving trade frameworks and supporting members serving essential sectors across the UK and Ireland.
