The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) has strengthened its leadership team with two senior appointments, naming Geoff Day as executive director of engagement whilst promoting Cat Devaney to executive director of learning. The appointments enhance the professional body's capacity to deliver member support and shape the profession's future.
The Accountant Online reported that ICAS chief executive Gail Boag stated the appointments strengthen the leadership team and enhance ability to deliver impact.
Geoff Day brings approximately 25 years of experience, with previous positions including director of communications and brand experiences at Mercedes-Benz USA. He also spent several years in New York as managing partner of Jackanory and operated his own agency in the UK, working with clients including BBC Television and Radio. Before joining ICAS, Day served as marketing and external relations director at Edinburgh Napier University.
Geoff Day said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be joining ICAS at this pivotal time for the industry. Throughout my career I have worked across a wide ecosystem of engagement touchpoints, bringing together brand, communications, development, digital and stakeholder relationship-building, to create meaningful connections that build trust and fuel growth."
Cat Devaney, who previously served as professional qualifications director, has spent two decades at ICAS, progressing through a series of roles. Most recently, she oversaw the design and rollout of the organisation's new chartered accountant (CA) qualification and student experience as part of a three-year learning transformation initiative.
In her new executive position, Devaney will continue developing this work and lead creation of additional training offerings aimed at reaching a wider range of learners.
