Kenya Airways (KQ) has unveiled its first-ever Alumni Association, a platform designed to reconnect former employees, foster mentorship, and facilitate collaboration while extending the airline’s legacy beyond its active workforce. The initiative aims to harness the experience and influence of thousands of past employees, many of whom have gone on to shape industries both locally and internationally.

Group Managing Director and CEO Allan Kilavuka described the launch as a testament to KQ’s commitment to lifelong relationships. “Built on the theme ‘Once KQ, Always KQ,’ this Association creates a meaningful space for former colleagues to reconnect, mentor, collaborate, and continue shaping the KQ story beyond their time with us,” he said.

The launch event drew over 500 alumni, including former pilots, cabin crew, engineers, ground staff, and corporate team members, in what was described as an emotional homecoming. Attendees shared memories, reconnected with former colleagues, and celebrated the culture and camaraderie that have long defined the KQ family.

Beyond fostering nostalgia, the Alumni Association will support structured initiatives such as mentorship programmes, knowledge-sharing forums, and networking opportunities, bridging generations of KQ professionals. The airline emphasises that former staff remain some of its strongest ambassadors, carrying the KQ story across the world.

The initiative has already gained support from partners including ICEA LION Group, NCBA Bank, and Wanandege Sacco, reflecting broader recognition of the KQ community’s value and influence. Kilavuka noted that such collaborations underscore the shared belief in nurturing and celebrating the bonds within the Kenya Airways ecosystem.

Kenya Airways stated that the Alumni Association marks the start of a renewed chapter, ensuring the spirit, knowledge, and values cultivated within the airline continue to thrive. “The Alumni Association is more than a platform; it is a commitment to stay connected, uplift one another, and ensure that the KQ family continues to thrive for generations to come,” the airline said.
