Triathlon Ireland, the national governing body for triathlon with over 20,000 members and more than 250 events annually, has transformed its financial operations after implementing AccountsIQ's cloud accounting platform and ExpenseIn expense management solution, cutting its month-end close from five days to five hours.

Enterprise Times reported that before the implementation, the non-profit relied on spreadsheets, manual exports and disconnected systems, with month-end processes becoming increasingly unmanageable as event volumes and organisational complexity grew.

Eric Harmon, financial controller at Triathlon Ireland, said: "Before AccountsIQ, our management accounts involved dozens of Excel exports and constant formula checks. Reporting was time-consuming and month-end often became a challenge."

The implementation, supported through project management tool Wrike, included migration from 695 nominal codes to 200 streamlined codes, a shift from single-dimension to multi-dimensional reporting, and the replacement of manual processes with real-time financial reporting now completed in minutes.

Harmon said: "The integration between AccountsIQ and ExpenseIn is an absolute game changer. ExpenseIn data flows directly into our accounts system with receipts. This removes the manual work and definitely speeds up our month end process."

AccountsIQ acquired ExpenseIn in 2025, combining both platforms into a single integrated solution for organisations managing expenses alongside core accounting functions.

Harmon added: "Following the integration of AccountsIQ's cloud accounting software, financial reporting that used to take days of manual work can now be done at the click of a button, which is a significant step forward for our team. AccountsIQ has given us much greater confidence in our reporting, and we are thrilled with the results."
