Dr George Leslie has founded the Indian Doctors Association in Ireland (IDAI) to address delays and challenges faced by Indian-origin medical professionals seeking registration and practice in the Irish healthcare system. The initiative aims to provide guidance, mentorship, and structured support across all levels of experience.

Joining Dr Leslie in the venture is Consultant Cardiologist Dr Cyril James, highlighting the association’s commitment to professional excellence. IDAI has also enlisted Galway GP Dr Apoorva Gopinath and Dublin-based radiation oncologist Dr Savio James to coordinate assistance for junior doctors and newcomers, helping them integrate smoothly into Ireland’s healthcare framework.

The association has begun creating specialised groups to cater to unique needs across various medical specialties. These groups ensure that every member, from trainees to seasoned consultants, has access to targeted resources and mentorship.

IDAI maintains close ties with the Irish Medical Association and has informed both the Minister for Health and the Indian Embassy in Dublin, aiming to reinforce cultural and professional links between the two countries.

Dr Leslie described the launch as both an organisational milestone and a symbolic recognition of Indian doctors’ ongoing contributions to the Irish healthcare system. The association provides a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and support, while promoting high standards of patient care and professional development.
