Irish businesses double down on DEI despite global headwinds

While global powers backpedal on diversity, Irish firms are moving in the opposite direction. A new Irish Management Institute survey of senior executives reveals 97% plan to strengthen diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts—despite political pushback elsewhere. Nearly half say they will increase DEI investment, while over half will maintain current initiatives.

Meanwhile, only 5% believe mandating a full office return boosts productivity, highlighting a sharp contrast with louder voices calling for the end of hybrid work. Nearly 40% believe scrapping flexible policies would harm both performance and work-life balance.

The data underscores a bold stance from Ireland’s business community—treating DEI not as a trend, but as a long-term strategy.
