Jude Copeland of Cleaver Fulton Rankin has been appointed chair of the Law Society of Northern Ireland’s new sub-group on cybersecurity, data protection and emerging technologies—a key move as the legal profession confronts rapid shifts driven by AI.

The group will examine how technologies like AI are reshaping legal practice, set out best practices for cybersecurity, and offer strategic recommendations to strengthen the sector’s digital resilience. Copeland will also sit on the Society’s broader lawtech working group and continue his role on the future of the profession committee.

His leadership signals a proactive effort to ensure Northern Ireland’s solicitors are not only adapting to technological change but doing so with a firm grip on ethics, data protection and client service.
